FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an equity trading account?
An equity trading account lets you buy and sell shares listed on the NSE and BSE. Orders are placed through the trading account, and the shares you buy are held in your linked demat account with the depository.
What is the difference between delivery and intraday trading?
In delivery trading, shares are transferred to your demat account and you can hold them indefinitely. In intraday trading, positions are opened and closed the same day, and any open position is squared off automatically before the market closes.
What is the brokerage on equity trades?
₹5 per executed order or 0.03% of turnover, whichever is lower, on both delivery and intraday. Statutory charges including STT, exchange transaction charges, GST and stamp duty apply separately.
When do shares arrive in my demat account?
Indian equity markets settle on a T+1 basis, so shares purchased today are credited to your demat account the next trading day. Sale proceeds are credited to your account on the same T+1 cycle.
What is a market order and a limit order?
A market order executes immediately at the best available price. A limit order executes only at your specified price or better. Limit orders give you price control; market orders give you execution certainty.
What is a stop loss order?
A stop loss order automatically places a buy/sell order when the price falls/rise to a level you set, limiting how much you can lose on a position. It is a risk management tool, not a guarantee of the exit price.
Can I buy shares without a demat account?
No. Shares in India are held electronically, so a demat account is required to take delivery. Intraday positions do not result in delivery, but you still need a demat account to open a trading account.
What is circuit limit?
Exchanges set daily price bands to limit extreme volatility. When a stock hits its upper or lower circuit, trading is restricted within that band for the day. Limits vary by stock and are set by the exchange under regulator’s guideline
What are corporate actions?
Corporate actions include dividends, bonus issues, stock splits and rights issues. If you hold shares on the record date, entitlements are credited automatically to your demat account by the depository.
Can I trade in small-cap and mid-cap stocks?
Yes, subject to any regulator’s restrictions on individual scrips. Some stocks fall under surveillance measures such as ASM or GSM, which may impose additional margin requirements or trade-for-trade settlement.
What is a stock screener?
A stock screener filters listed companies by criteria you choose, such as market capitalisation, sector, valuation ratios or technical indicators. It is a research tool for narrowing a large universe of stocks to a shortlist.
Does TECHTRADE recommend which stocks to buy?
No. TECHTRADE provides market data, screeners and research tools, but does not offer trading or investment advice. All investment decisions rest with the client.
